  • Condition: A Silver One Quarter Real or Cuartillo from CULIACAN, SINALOA State, Mexico, 1855 C LR in EF condition. There are FOUR Key Dates in this series and this is one of them. Mintage is not known. These coins were very small (10-13mm or so) and varied between mints and years. This one is about 13mm or about half inch in diameter. It has Liberty Cap head on the obv. and a relatively large 1/4 fraction on the reverse. Overall many of these silver cuartillos had very low mintages. I don't even see very many of these silver 1/4 Reales in Mexico!!! A high percentage were holed and used for jewelry. I have included large images after the text for your viewing.

    A Silver One Quarter Real or Cuartillo from CULIACAN, SINALOA State, Mexico, 1855 C LR in aEF condition. There are FOUR Key Dates in this series and this is one of them. Mintage is not known.
