DESCRIPTION OF THE SET:
On the 12 April 1961 on board a spacecraft „Vostok“ the space pilot of USSR Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin accomplished the first journey into outer space. The blast-off took place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 9:07 Moscow time (06:07:00 UTC). The spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth and landed at 10:55 (07:55 UTC) near the village Smelovsk in Saratov Oblast.
It was the greatest triumph of Soviet science and technology. Our scientists and engineers have been recognized as the best in the world, they became pioneers of space and Yuri Gagarin became the most popular man on the planet Earth.
Yuri Gagarin was born in a simple rustic family, d.Klushino Gzhatsk district of Smolensk region. In 1957 he graduated from the 1st Military Aviation School of Pilots in Chkalov (now Orenburg), served in the North, and in 1960 he was enrolled in the cosmonaut. Start regular classes in the cosmonaut training program. So, April 12, 1961 Gagarin piloted the world's first spaceship. During the flight, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, and on April 12 was declared the Day of Cosmonautics.

In the lower part of the disc - the mint trade mark. In the upper part of the ring -the inscription along the rim: "BANK OF RUSSIA", in the lower one - the date "2001", to the left and to the right - stylized twigs of plants going over to the disc.
The reverse:
in the center — a picture of Yu.A. Gagarin wearing a space suit, under it — the facsimile signature "GAGARIN"), in the upper part of the ring — the inscription along the rim: "APRIL 12, 1961"

300 corrugations and the inscriptions "TEN RUBLES" recurring twice and divided by asterisks.
